About Me and Reviews

Hello!

I’m Julie, and I graduated from the Acupuncture academy in 2023, achieving the equivalent to a traditional three-year degree. Training covered all aspects of Chinese medical and acupuncture theory with a focus on Five Element Acupuncture. I attained a Distinction and was highly commended for my clinical work, which has led me to continue treatments through my own practice.

I initially trained as a physiotherapist and worked in the NHS and abroad in Canada. I specialised in Neurology but also nurtured an interest in Shiatsu, Reflex zone Therapy and Acupuncture. After a career break, I wanted to return to a caring profession where I could further integrate my Western medical knowledge with Eastern practices. Obtaining a new qualification and career in Acupuncture was a unique and fulfilling way of doing this for both my patients and me.

I would like to further my interest in supporting women with menstruation issues and the menopause so they can have more lifestyle choices and be able to follow life goals . My mission as an acupuncture practitioner is to guide individuals as they navigate life's challenges. I aim to create personalised therapeutic plans for the best possible outcomes for each unique individual.

In recent years I enjoy spending time outside either walking, running or gardening. I also love music and cooking creatively, finding satisfaction from knowing what goes into my food!

I am a member of the British Acupuncture Council as well as being registered with the Professional Standards Authority which is a government body set up to regulate health and social providers. I hold full medical malpractice and public/products liability insurance cover.

“ Being 85 and having had back and neck trouble for years I thought I would try acupuncture. I felt a great improvement after one session with Julie and 2 further session seemed to keep it at bay.
I will certainly recommend Julie for her excellent care and attention. I look forward to more sessions if I have any further problems "

I started to have migraines and a colleague at work recommended acupuncture as it really worked for her.
Julie really helped me to understand how acupuncture worked and explained each treatment to me first before she started. I found each session really effective and very relaxing. The migraines started to reduce in frequency and disappear. I also found my energy levels increased. I would recommend anyone to visit Julie. Not only are her treatments very effective in my experience, she is also very empathetic and takes time to understand your needs and explains everything brilliantly.

"I recently had a bout of frozen shoulder. Remembering that previously acupuncture had solved this problem I sought the services of Julie Swift.
Julie explained comprehensively everything she was doing and why she was taking that approach.
I cannot recommend Julie highly enough, she was professional, totally painless, and it only took 2 sessions to improve my symptoms."
